Some Claire's foil swatches, Part I of II

I bought a set of six mini foil polishes from Claire's four months ago for about $6.50 (it was on sale from $12.50). They are unnamed.

Light green foil. Three coats. Some cuticle drag.

Silver foil. Really nice coverage in two coats. Reminds me a lot of the silver Orly Foil FX polish (the name is escaping my memory currently).

Magenta foil. Three coats. Nice but I'm unmoved by it.

A Lil' Bit Vampy - OPI A Man in Every Port-ugal

Another classic - to me.

It's definitely starting to feel chilly around here - the wind has become crisper, a coat is now a necessity, and the soothing warmth of my electric blanket makes it near impossible to want to get out of bed. This feeling tends to inspire me to wear darker, sexier, more brooding polishes - 'vampies' if you will.

In the vein of other classic vampies so loved in colder seasons, such as Chanel Rouge Noir, OPI Vampire State Building, and Essie Wicked (the list goes on...), this polish offers that darkest-of-reds sexy vampiness - but with an added twist!

I had a horrendously hard time capturing it on film, but this polish has the most interesting blue microshimmer. Sure, no one else but me would know, but I do know, and I love it!

Secret shimmer aside, this is just gorgeous. When it comes to deep deep red cremes, this is always the one I choose. I gave up my Chanel Rouge Noir in favour of this, and even when new ones come out, like this Winter's Essie Masquerade Belle, I decide on this.

Black glitter holos from Australia: Glitter Gal and Ozotic!

I am FLABBERGASTED at how long it took me to get the Glitter Gal swatch up. It's such a great polish.

Glitter Gal Black

Two coats, so smooth, opaque. AND SPARKLY. This is a very holo polish and that makes me VERY happy. :)

Ozotic 526

Do you see the holo in the bottle? DO YOU SEE THE HOLO ON THE NAIL? No. :( That being said, this was only one coat, that's how opaque it is. Unfortunately, the pretty holo glitter is lost. Not happy. :(

MAC Jade Dragon

Jade Dragon is from the MAC + Jin Soon Fall/Winter 2010 line that is Imperial China inspired. Hence the name of this polish, Jade Dragon. I only picked up three from this collection that debuted this past August. After success with my first MAC polish, I immediately stopped by my local MAC to check out the collection. I've only gotten to the chance to use this one out of the three I got, and I have to say I wasn't let down! See for yourself:


The first image is what it looks like majority of the time and the shimmer isn't as apparent. I'd say most of the time it is exactly like the second nail from the right. Dark evergreen with aqua shimmer. The shimmer isn't in your face sparkley, but you can see it more in the sun or if you stare really hard. This mani went on nicely with two coats. My only complaint about MAC polishes is that I get tipwear within two days whereas almost all other brands I don't see tipwear until day 4 or 5.

Chanel Particuliere: I came late to the party and wished I hadn't paid so much for admission

Chanel Particuliere

Could've sworn that it looked less like milk chocolate on other peoples' hands and more of a sophisticated taupe color, almost grey-leaning... but on my hands, it looks like milk chocolate. I also had a bit of trouble with the application: mine actually applied sort of streakily (you can see this on my ring finger -- second from the right). This sort of color at this sort of price shouldn't take three coats, should it? I'm keeping it for now because it might grow on me (maybe?) but I wouldn't be surprised if I swapped or sold this one day.
