Petites Periwinkle

Petites came out with polishes in this round bottle in addition small squarish one. Both hold less polish than the usual 0.5fl, but I don't any of the squarish ones so can't tell you how big they are. My camera did not want to capture this color accurately, it came out too blue. This shade isn't exactly periwinkle to begin with. It's more of a dusty periwinkle. Formula on this was perfect with two coats! Quite impressed with a drug store polish that is ~$2, but then again it is smaller than other polishes. Any one else have any experiences with Petites?

A Grey Comparison

It's comparison time again!  This time I thought I'd compare some of my grey polishes.  Here's the cast of characters:

I applied three coats of each in the same order as above, from thumb to pinkie.  I took this picture in the sun.

I took this picture in the shade.

And I took this picture with the flash.

I was hoping to find a dupe for Waking Up In Vegas, but I didn't.  What I actually found was that it's probably my least favorite of these polishes.  It just seems to not go as well with my skin tone, unfortunately.  Oh well, I still needed to have it for the name.  It seems like a lighter version of Recycle, but I prefer Recycle with my skin tone.

High Society and Vintage Gray are very similar in color, but Vintage Gray is lighter.  There's probably no reason to own both since they're quite similar, though if you like this type of color, then owning both might be a good thing for you since they aren't dupes.

Point Break and Recycle are the darkest greys in this comparison.  Point Break leans blue whereas Recycle seems to lean a bit green.

A Few Recent NOTD Pictures

Hi guys!  Thank you so much for such a warm welcome to Polish or Perish!  I truly appreciate all the support I've received from my fans and the nail blogging community.  You've made me feel so loved and appreciated.  I'm super excited to be the newest Polish or Perish blogger and I know I've got some really good people to blog with so I just know this will be an exciting journey.

I'd like to take a few moments to address the whole situation with Little Music Boxes.  I went into blogging to enhance my love of nail polish and to share that love with whomever wanted to listen.  I feel that I did that for awhile, but it started getting to be too much.  I was feeling very overwhelmed and I stopped enjoying it the last few months.  I was dreading each post.  Hundreds of pictures would sit on my computer for weeks waiting to be edited and I just didn't want to do it.  I dreaded swatching and found myself not wearing my favorite polishes just so I could try out something new to take pictures for the blog.  It became a huge chore and I hated to disappoint my fans, but my heart wasn't in it anymore.

I know I could have just made a farewell post and I partially regret not doing that, but I knew that if I left Little Music Boxes up, I'd end up going back.  I'd feel obligated to keep it up and the temptation to continue blogging would have always been on my mind.  Don't worry, though!  I've got it all saved and I'll be reposting many of the entries here (with a few edits, of course) since I am still incredibly proud of what I created there.  I'll also make posts with new material so I won't bore you all.

I thought I'd share some recent NOTD pictures with you today.  This first one is Petites Vintage Gray.  I picked this up in a Rite Aid on vacation and I have to admit that it's a really gorgeous color.  I used three coats for this manicure and every time I looked down at my nails, I thought "Man...I really like this!"  And I do!  It's now one of my favorite grey polishes.

The bottle is kinda small and I had some trouble getting all my fingers in this picture.  I felt like I had monster hands trying to take this picture.

I also recently wore China Glaze Ravishing, Dahling.  I'd been hearing a lot about this polish so I finally caved and bought it.  Can't go wrong with a deep, red jelly, right?  I know I've used that line before.  Ravishing, Dahling (oh, how I love to say that!) tends to lean a bit brown in certain lighting, but in natural light it's a gorgeous, juicy red jelly.  I used four coats for this manicure.

Unfortunately, I got a ton of Seche Vite shrinkage while wearing this.  I'm glad I got these pictures before the polish dried!

If you know anything about me, you know I love jellies.  So that's why I lemmed OPI Time-Less Is More for quite some time before finally caving and ordering it online (I've been doing that a lot lately).  I'd describe this polish as a sheer, soft white jelly.  Now you will probably be shocked to find out that I had to use six coats for this manicure.  I know, I know...I'm nuts to have that much patience.  But I really wanted a squishy, soft white manicure.  And that's exactly what I got!

Despite the numerous coats for this manicure (they were thin, though.  I promise!), it dried relatively fast.  I was pretty surprised that I didn't have to avoid using my hands for half the day.  I did get some bubbling, but I can live with that.
