Eyeko Rain (for City Nails)

Does anyone else miss the cute squat Eyeko bottles? They were a pain in the neck to actually use but they were so incredibly cute. The long thin ones (such as the one in this post) are easier to use but they just lack the *SQUEEE!!* of the old ones.

Eyeko Rain (for City Nails)

Eyeko is probably one of my favorite small UK brands for nail polish: relatively inexpensive, absolutely adorable, great range for its size and good quality formula. What is NOT to like? I wish they still did free international shipping on all orders but I understand why they abandoned that. Anyway, about Rain: a slightly dusty light blue with silver shimmer. The above was two coats -- and I love me a two-coater pastel-y color. This photo was taken on the third day of wear, so there is some tipwear. But otherwise, this wore very well for the three days I had it on.

Some Eyeko swatches: Cosmic, Indigo and Lilac

These swatches are pretty old. When I took these, I had just built my lightbox and had not quite figured out 1. how to use it and 2. when to use it. So these aren't as color accurate as I'd normally like them to be.

A few words on Eyeko. Worst customer service ever the first time I ordered from them -- I think I must've emailed them over half a dozen times after my package didn't show up after two months -- and then two of the polishes I had ordered broke in transit (because they were not well packaged AT ALL). But then they made it up by sending me a couple of replacements in a decent amount of time. ...so then I ordered again because they are actually pretty nice polishes in super cute bottles. It took several weeks (not great but not bad for the UK) but all polishes came intact so... not complaining too much.

Eyeko Lilac Polish (for Lovely Nails)

Very pretty, glossy lilac creme. Two or three coats, I can't remember. I do remember it went on very smoothly though and was just lovely.

Eyeko Indigo Polish

Two coats, dark blue jelly with lighter blue shimmer. Simple idea, nice execution. Not the best example of this sort of color/shimmer combination that I've ever seen but it's very decent.

Eyeko Cosmic Polish (for Space Age Nails)

This one was AWESOME. Usually, black jellies with holo glitter are pretty gritty and bumpy looking but this one had really gorgeous glitter and it went on SO SMOOTH and GLOSSY. Two coats. It's probably my favorite black jelly/holo glitter combos out there.

Eyeko Part II

As promised, the rest of my Eyeko polishes:

Eyeko Pretty Polish for Neat Nails
Straightforward light pink creme. Easier to apply than the pastel one, which surprised me since pastel shimmers are generally easier than pastel cremes. (Didn't stop me from getting it all over my fingers though, sheesh.) Nothing special and I wasn't wild about how this looked against my skin. Three coats.

Eyeko Punk Polish for Neon Nails
Hot pink creme. Two coats and very easy to apply. Dunno why but I think it should be Neon Polish for Punk Nails. Wouldn't that be better a better parallel to the other names?

Eyeko Vamp Polish for Nasty Nails
(I hate the word "nasty" -- it's so nasal and lingers too long on the first vowel.) This was the polish that was nearly empty by the time it got to me and so I was pretty much scraping polish off the sides of the bottle with my brush to get enough to do one swatch of it. It's actually a very dark blue but it looks black in most lights. Would've been fine with two coats but I had to do three because my coats were uneven due to the paucity of polish on the brush. Incredibly frustrating.

Like I said in the last post, Eyeko polishes exceeded my expectations. I found the small brush and cap shape relatively easy to use (it's more comfortable than the Hot Topic polishes whose handles are just a bit too long) but I can imagine other people not liking them at all. It's harder to get a good grip on them because there's not a lot to hold onto to. Worth it for the cuteness factor though, imo. :)

Eyeko Part I (yes, they finally got here)

So after a month of waiting on them, my Eyekos finally got here! Without any noticeable help from their customer service (I emailed them about six times). With insufficient padding. With one of them nearly empty because the cap was half off. With one of them only half full because another cap was a fourth off. I'm not happy about this. But I'm glad that they're here... finally. I would've never paid full price + shipping for these but I couldn't resist getting all six for the price of two (with shipping from the UK factored in). I'm ignoring the fact that these are pretty small bottles.

(I feel like I'm such a... overly price-conscious compulsive shopper. I care so much about getting a good deal... but in the end, I'm just spending a lot of money.)

Eyeko Hot! Hot! Hot! Saucy Red Nail Polish for Naughty Nails
Va-va-va-voom red creme. Very bright! And very well-named. Two coats, very smooth application.

Eyeko Disco Polish for Nighttime Nails
Glitters are meant for the day; they are meant for sun. They are meant to glitter and sparkle and burn the retina with their brilliance. This was an incredible fine silver glitter. Three coats above, almost totally opaque. One of my favorite silver glitter polishes so far.

Close-up of Disco Polish for Nighttime Nails

And of course, a video of Disco Polish:
Looking at this video, the bottle looks somewhat decently sized. It's not. My hands are smaller than every adult I've ever compared hands with -- and I've actually compared hands with many in search of a hand smaller than mine.

Eyeko Pastel Polish for Nice Nails

Hardest one to apply: three coats, still a bit uneven. Great light blue color with a blue flash, (saving it from chalkiness). It's weird that it's such a basic idea for a color but I don't think I have any dupes for it!

So far, I've been very impressed with the quality of these polishes. Then again, my expectations were extremely low: I figured these would be more cutesy novelty items, their best feature being their packaging. I was wrong: these were generally easy to work with. I would think twice before ordering directly again from Eyeko though.

More Eyekos tomorrow!
