CoverGirl Candy Corn

I am trying to crowbar spring into my life!

To wit, I went with this cheery but soft orange creme.

(3 coats)

The formula on this one is not so good. (Sticky, bubbly, *had* to do 3 coats). But I do love the color. At first the orange was kind of shocking and novelty-ish. But as I settled into it, I kind of loved it and thought it looked pretty cute.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everyone!! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I have a few pics of some of my Halloween manis from the past week.

First, I wore OPI Glow-Ink the Dark over Rescue Beauty Lounge Underwear to help with opacity. Unfortunately, Underwear and I did NOT get along so this mani is kinda messy. Also, I smudged the corner of my thumbnail. Sigh.

This is 1 coat of Underwear and 3 coats of Glow-Ink the Dark.

Closeup on skull decal.

And this is my lame attempt at showing how well it glows. Despite this terrible picture, I promise that it really does glow like crazy!!

Next up is China Glaze Fortune Teller, which you guys have already seen a million times. This is 1 coat of FT over 1 coat of Illamasqua Boosh.

After a couple days I mattified it using Essie Matte About You.

And now my current, and favorite, Halloween NOTD, Cover Girl Crackle in Boo (1 coat) over Misa Speed of Life (2 coats).

With flash.

And just for fun, here are the 2 pumpkins my husband and I carved last night. Mine is the cat and his is the skull.

Thanks for reading and Happy Halloween!!!

Missha swatches

I don't know how to commemorate this day. Born and raised Manhattanite, and no idea what to do or say on this day. It makes me sad and bitter -- and probably for reasons different than what most people think -- and that's... all. Anyway. Swatches. Missha.

The essentials:
Cute flower-shaped bottles.
Small (0.39 fl oz).
Cheap (~$1.50 at the Missha US website).
Typical UPS shipping (~$8, though free with purchases $40+).
Hit-or-miss in terms of quality (see following).

Missha BL101
Frosty/pearly light blue. Three coats, nowhere near opaque. Looks like something I would've worn -- and not enjoyed -- in middle school.

Missha PK104
Dark pink jelly. Three coats, pretty sheer. Really nice and glossy but the sheerness does it in for me.

Missha GR101
Very bright, almost frosty, turquoise shimmer with silver and gold glitter. It's less frosty-looking IRL. Two coats, could've done three and would've been fine.

Missha RD101
Basic red jelly. Three coats. Again, glossy but too sheer for me.

Missha PK102
No idea what to call this color. A dull, drab version of fuchsia? A shimmery plummy shade? Three coats here, applied very smoothly but I found it boring. The finish was slightly frosty with the occasional glimmering silver glitter particle.

Missha WN103
Deep maroon jelly. Three coats to reach opacity. Very, very glossy. I like! I think I got a slightly wonky brush on this one: a couple of loose bristles that got polish allll over my cuticles.

Missha PP101 (outside with sun and inside with flash)

Dusty mauve with peachy pink shimmer. This one looked plain and kind of frosty in the bottle but I actually really liked it on the nail. It's definitely a neutral/safe color in my book but I really enjoy the shimmer in it.

And my favorite for last:

Missha BL102
Neon cobalt blue. Two coats, great pigmentation. Slides right on. :) And because I liked it so much, I had to play with it!

Missha BL102 with CoverGirl City Lights topcoat
Spaaarrrkly. A thrill of the cheap variety at approximately $5 for the two polishes.

Video of the spaaarrkly (sorry if it seems more spastic than usual)!

All in all, a couple of gems, a couple of duds and the vast mediocre middle. I'm very happy for $1.50 polish. If nothing else, they're sooooo cute and flower-shaped and obviously, it's what's outside that counts. ;)

Covergirl Nailslicks

Hello! I have two pretty Cover Girl Nailslicks I found at a dusty a while back. First up is Plum Fairy. It's an amazing purple shimmer! Unfortunately, the formula was runny and thin so it took four coats to be bottle color, but yet I was still able to control it! It was so shiny on its own it doesn't need topcoat, and since it was non B3F it was dried super fast. All these pics are without topcoat.. I put it on after the pics :)

And next up............... is Midnight Forest! This one is a gunmetal grey with teal shimmer in it. I couldn't capture the teal in at all! So this is the best I came up with. This was wasn't as runny as Plum Fairy, and was easier to control. This is such a pretty color, really unfortunate that it didn't want to show up in the pictures. On my nails the teal was more prevalent. I think this color is unique, don't own anything else like it! And yes you can see the brushstrokes of this one at certain angles =x now you guys know how I carelessly I polish my nails! =x
